Bahuroop

Designed as a workshop, Bahuroop intends to introduce children to movement and the expressive world of Bharatanatyam. It’s a playful yet reflective space where children explore movement and discover rhythm. Rooted in collaboration and self-awareness, Bahuroop invites children to move freely while gaining a gentle introduction to storytelling and physicality associated with dance— nurturing curiosity, confidence, and connection along the way.

Taking Up Space

Taking Up Space explores the idea of women who are multitudes with desire and guilt, yet dutiful and unabashed. This short work aims at taking a nuanced look at the many layers of negotiations that women have in their everyday life. Set in the backdrop of a collection of famous literature, Taking Up Space aims to explore the alternative narratives of Javalis and Padams popularly used in the Bharatanatyam repertoire. Taking Up Space premiered at the Canvas Dance Festival, Bangalore in 2022.

Sita Says

(for Heroine’s Journey)
The widespread and far-reaching significance of the Ramayana’s popular narrative and characters means that it influences cultural and artistic spheres. And the work and its characters also feature heavily in the classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam, which is a vocabulary I have engaged with for as long as I can remember and have grown most comfortable with. Bharatanatyam has shaped my identity in more ways than one and when I came across an inspiring, alternative narrative of Ramayan, my first idea was to engage with it in the vocabulary I knew best. Sita Says is rooted in this alternative narrative. It counteracts her, and perhaps every other woman’s reality. Sita Say’s was presented at Gyan Adab as part of the Heroine’s Journey festival in 2019.

Adhyaay

With “Adhyaay,” I invite audiences to join me on a heartfelt journey that reflects my growth as an artist and as a person. This performance is a curated collection of masterpieces that I have learned over the years from esteemed teachers of Bharatanatyam that I have had the privilege to train from. Through “Adhyaay”, I aim to share the transformative experiences that have shaped my artistic expression. Each piece holds a special place in my heart, representing a milestone in my journey. “Adhyaay” is not just a celebration of dance; it is a tribute to the traditions that have inspired me, a reflection of my resilience and dedication, and an expression of gratitude to my mentors and roots. Adhyaay first premiered in 2025 at The Nehru Centre in London.
